2 Cor 3:17
The Lord is the Spirit, and where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.
There is a freedom available to us beyond what is experienced in church life. It is found in Christ.
Freedom doesn't exist without restrictions.
Freedom without restraint results in recklessness.
Freedom is not Gods endorsement for doing my own thing.
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
God is a God of order and authority.
The freedom I walk in desires to serve something greater than self. Commit to a local church. Submit to the leadership. Serve faithfully.
1 Peter 2:16
Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.
Sin causes separation from God.
Secret sin causes me to forfeit my freedom and revert back into the law. I turn to tradition and rituals because fulfilling the patterns of man enables me to give the appearance of Godliness.(church, tithing, bible study, etc.).
We can do all the Christian stuff and be soo far from God.
"With their lips they praise me but their hearts are far from me."
The way to experience the real freedom Jesus died to give us is to die to ourselves daily.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Jeremiah 6:17-19 I appointed watchmen over you and said, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet!' But you said, 'We will not listen.'
Isaiah 56:10,11 Israel's watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep. They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, each seeks his own gain.
Isaiah 62:6 I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest.
Ezekiel 3:16-19 16 At the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.
Wake up call!
As they were enjoying themselves, suddenly certain men of the city, perverted men, surrounded the house and beat on the door. They spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, “Bring out the man who came to your house, that we may know him carnally!”
23 But the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, “No, my brethren! I beg you, do not act so wickedly! Seeing this man has come into my house, do not commit this outrage. 24 Look, here is my virgin daughter and the man’s concubine; let me bring them out now. Humble them, and do with them as you please; but to this man do not do such a vile thing!” 25 But the men would not heed him. So the man took his concubine and brought her out to them. And they knew her and abused her all night until morning; and when the day began to break, they let her go.
26 Then the woman came as the day was dawning, and fell down at the door of the man’s house where her master was, till it was light.
27 When her master arose in the morning, and opened the doors of the house and went out to go his way, there was his concubine, fallen at the door of the house with her hands on the threshold. 28 And he said to her, “Get up and let us be going.” But there was no answer.
It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing.
Maturity is not the accumulation of knowledge, but it’s the increase of hunger and thirst for righteousness.
No one is so empty as the man who has stopped walking with God and knows it not.
We need a wake up call!
One philosopher said – the barometer for measuring how civilized people are is determined by finding out what they think is funny.
It’s time to wake up!!!
Our nation celebrated its 242nd birthday in 2018. From the beginning of history, the average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been about two hundred years. During those years, these great nations always progress through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back into bondage.
1)He gave up authority
Verse 23 But the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, “No, my brethren! I beg you, do not act so wickedly! Seeing this man has come into my house, do not commit this outrage.
2)He compromised with the enemy
Verse 24 Look, here is my virgin daughter and the man’s concubine; let me bring them out now. Humble them, and do with them as you please; but to this man do not do such a vile thing!”
3)He failed to protect his wife
Verse 25 But the men would not heed him. So the man took his concubine(wife) and brought her out to them. And they knew her and abused her all night until morning; and when the day began to break, they let her go.
4)He slept in
Verse 26-28 Then the woman came as the day was dawning, and fell down at the door of the man’s house where her master was, till it was light.
When her master arose in the morning, and opened the doors of the house and went out to go his way, there was his concubine, fallen at the door of the house with her hands on the threshold. And he said to her, “Get up and let us be going.” But there was no answer.
Romans 13:11-12 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
2 Tim 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.
Hebrews 2:1 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
The dying hand of the public schools is on our doorstep!
Judges 19:29-30 29 When he reached home, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, limb by limb, into twelve parts and sent them into all the areas of Israel. 30 Everyone who saw it was saying to one another, “Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Just imagine! We must do something! So speak up!”
